We were commissioned by All Souls Bolton to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation as a means to bring together a disparate community around the redevelopment of a landmark former church, All Souls, as a flagship community centre.
Our process involved producing consultation events in which local people were asked to respond, on camera, with their feelings about the local area. This wide consultation enabled us to form productive relationships with smaller community groups and individuals which we then used to produce more in-depth filmed collaborations.
The outputs created – which included twenty three short community stories – produced a deep level of engagement and ownership with our participants as well as a lasting legacy for All Souls. The films were used in community screenings, on a “history wall” in the new community centre, and as online advocacy for the centre’s objectives on diversity and community.
In addition to the films, we also created a digital archive, accessed via an interactive table. This included shorter community interviews, together with photographs and other films sourced from around the North West and donated by the participants we worked with.
